I decided to switch it up from documenting my progress this week to doing some research. I found several different games and activities that can incorporate or that revolve around signing in the classroom. The ideas for these games come from the website Start ASL.
Telephone
Have students sitting in a row with their eyes closed. The student starting with sign a word or sentence, depending on the level to the student next to them. That student will then tap the next on the shoulder, and sign it for them, doing their best to understand and remember. Making mistakes is okay because it makes it funny when you reach the end and the word/sentence no longer makes sense.

Bingo
Instead of calling out the numbers, the teacher will sign them.
Speed sign
This game will be done with two groups of two. The signer from each team will draw a card together with a themed word on it. They will each sign the word for their partner and it will be a race to write it down on the board.
Hangman

Students will raise their hand and sign a letter instead of saying it out loud. Otherwise, all rules for hangman apply.
In addition to those activities, I found an online game for ASL fingerspelling practice. This game quizzes you on how many words you can read within two minutes. The first time I tried it I could read 6 words/2mins and the second time was 8 words/2 mins. There is lots of room to improve, but I think I will improve quite quickly.

Lastly, I watched a video about including ASL in board games. My favourite example was battleship, because it is fairly simple and only requires children to know letters and numbers.
