Kahoot is a tool often used in classrooms as an interactive game. It uses students’ critical thinking skills and is used to quiz students in a fun and informal way. It’s a kid-friendly and versatile tool that can be used for any subject. It’s effective for teaching because teachers are able to create their own Kahoots and lesson plans.
- What are the pros, cons and risks?
Pros:
- Promotes collaborative teamwork
- An easy way for the teacher to gage understanding
- Students can make their own kahoots and share with the class
- Fun and friendly competition
- Students can use their creativity when it comes to questions as well as the topic within the Kahoot
Cons/ Risks:
- Students can make their own usernames (could possibly be inappropriate)
- Not every student has access to technology
- Frustrating for students if connection is lost
- Only possible for grades 3+
